Brand story
Located in the heart of the world’s finest natural environment for raising beef cattle allows us to be selective with respect to our high standards of quality. As a single-source processing facility, we maintain maximum control from the very start. We hand-pick small, family-owned producers to ensure cattle are cared for humanely, corn fed, and healthy. Only cattle with an English heritage matching feed and age requirements are chosen to ensure our legacy of providing the USA and 70+ countries with remarkable consistency & unmatched quality. Our grading is considerably higher than the industry average, allowing us to deliver consistent, high-quality beef products.
Local
Greater Omaha Packing supports local producers in the Midwest region of the United States. Cattle are sourced within a 250-mile radius of our facility in Omaha and must match up to the high-quality standards required by Greater Omaha. Our commitment to local partners helps maintain a way of life for future generations and provides economic stability in our communities.
Cattle Supply
Our cattle buyers source Hereford, Angus, and Black Baldy cattle, but that’s not all they do! Cattle buyers work with producers before and after the sale by offering our unique blend of trust, education, and networking. Our experienced buyers believe great genetics are the foundation for great beef and help connect producers to others in the supply chain. It’s not uncommon to see a Greater Omaha buyer introducing seed stock operators to feedlot operators at a bull sale. Our buyers are also known to host customer appreciation dinners to say thank you, share industry and company news, educate, and learn from one another to enhance profitability.
Our Producers
Each producer’s role is a vital component of the life cycle system in beef cattle production. The journey from birth through maturity begins with cattlemen and women dedicated to producing quality Angus and Hereford cattle, consistent with Greater Omaha’s high beef standards. They are hardworking people nurturing family, farm, and land with a passion to carry on the family business for generations to come. Our producer’s tireless commitment to safe handling and quality care, both in cattle and as stewards of the land, provides us with superior products and a sustainable future.
Cow-calf producers
Cow-calf producers oversee calving and growth between 6-10 months of age. They also work with veterinarians to prepare the calf for the grower/stocker, including an introduction to grass and hay and vaccinations to reduce the risk of illness.

Stocker/grower-producers purchase weaned or “feeder” calves at cattle auctions. These operations grow most weaned calves through grass, wheat pasture, and forage-based diets for approximately 3-5 months. During this time, producers aim for 1-2 lbs. additional weight each day for an average gain of 300 lbs. before moving to a feedlot.

Feedlot operators specialize in producing finished, grain-fed cattle until they reach maturity. When cattle arrive at the feedlot, they are grouped according to weight to provide uniform care and adequate diets for 4-6 months. Cattle chosen by Greater Omaha’s cattle buyers are fed a corn-based, high-energy diet proven to increase marbling, tenderness, and juiciness, a quality standard we insist on for consistent and exceptional flavored beef.
